PCB 4462C: Introduction to Landscape Ecology with GIS
Course Name: Introduction to Landscape Ecology with GIS
Course ID: PCB 4462C
Course Level: Undergraduate
Introduces students to concepts of landscape ecology and use of geographic information systems (GIS) in landscape ecology. Landscape ecology requires thinking of biology and biological principles in a spatial context, while GIS provides an integrated computer-based approach to monitoring and analyzing spatial data, i.e., the data that underlies landscape ecology. Students will learn the properties of spatial data, how to integrate spatial and non-spatial data using GIS software, and how to research and answer landscape ecology questions using spatial analysis and GIS. Credits: 4; lecture + lab.
