Applied Geographic Information Systems
(In Person or Fully Online)
The Applied Geographic Information Systems undergraduate certificate prepares students to perform various GIS skills, data collection, and data analysis methods. The certificate program focuses on practical applications of qualitative and quantitative research methods. These prepare students (1) to continue their education into graduate/professional school and/or (2) for jobs that require knowledge and use of statistics, surveys, GIS, and other research methods. This certificate program is open to degree-seeking students only.
A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a set of computer hardware and software used to organize, manipulate, and analyze maps and spatial data. GIS is a rapidly developing technology that can be applied to many natural sciences, social sciences, engineering, and planning areas.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must currently be enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree program at FIU.
Note: Some of the programs' courses have prerequisites. Students must satisfy these prerequisites or get permission from the instructor.
How to Apply
Students may apply by contacting the Program Director, Dr. Genevieve Reid, via email (greid@fiu.edu) to schedule a brief introduction meeting and start the registration process.
Applications will only be considered for the Fall and Spring Terms (no Summer applications, please).
